Recycling of aluminium beverage cans in Europe has reached record levels,
according to the latest figures released by industry associations European
Aluminium (EA) and Metal Packaging Europe (MPE).

The overall recycling rate for aluminium beverage cans in the Eu, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland rose to 76.1 per cent in 2018 fom 74.5 per cent a year earlier. Recycling rates in the EU ranged from 31 percent in Cyprus to 99 per cent in Germany.

Now world market lacks of aluminum cans and aluminum bottle, as the markets will use metal package instead of PET bottle and glass bottle gradually.

Environmental friendly aluminum cans

The introduction of smart reverse-vending machines (RVMs) in Singapore last year has helped encourage more consumers to recycle their used beverage containers.

Since the launch of the Recycle N Save initiative in Singapore in October 2019, close to 4 million aluminium drinks cans and PET bottles have been collected through 50 smart RVMs deployed across the country, including those under the Recycle N Save School Education Programme.
